Banana Oat Pancakes for Baby
Three-ingredient banana oat pancakes with no added sugar — the classic BLW breakfast that works from 6 months to toddlerhood.

Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 egg
- 40g rolled oats (blitzed to a coarse flour)
- Butter or oil, for the pan
Method
- Mash the banana until smooth, then whisk in the egg.
- Stir in the ground oats and rest 5 minutes to thicken.
- Cook spoonfuls in a lightly buttered pan over medium heat, 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through.
- Cool before serving — the centres stay hot longer than the outside.
How to serve it by stage
6+ months
Serve a whole pancake or strips the width of two adult fingers — easy to palm-grip.
9+ months
Tear into bite-sized pieces for the developing pincer grip.
12+ months
Serve whole with a fruit purée 'dip' to practise dipping and biting.
Allergen & safety noteContains egg — a priority allergen. If egg is new, serve a small amount early in the day and watch for a reaction. Always supervise eating, serve baby upright in a high chair, and check food passes the squish test for younger babies.
