A Simple One-Week Baby Meal Plan (6–12 Months)

Seven days planned, iron every day, allergens on rotation — and every dinner makes tomorrow's lunch.

Weaning decision fatigue is real: three meals a day, every day, each needing to be safe, age-appropriate and ideally not beige. A simple weekly rhythm fixes it. Here's a realistic one-week baby meal plan for roughly 6–12 months, with textures adjusted to your baby's stage.

Baby meal plan prep

The plan

  • Monday — B: banana oat pancakes · L: avocado toast fingers · D: salmon & sweet potato fishcakes
  • Tuesday — B: apple cinnamon porridge fingers · L: broccoli & cheese egg muffin · D: red lentil dal with rice
  • Wednesday — B: yogurt with soft fruit · L: leftover fishcake · D: hidden-veg tomato pasta
  • Thursday — B: egg muffin · L: hummus + soft veg sticks + pitta fingers · D: chicken & courgette fritters
  • Friday — B: porridge fingers · L: leftover fritters + tomato dip · D: tuna & white bean pasta
  • Saturday — B: banana oat pancakes (double batch — freeze half) · L: family lunch, adapted · D: mild dal + naan strips
  • Sunday — B: scrambled egg + toast · L: roast-dinner plate, baby-sized · D: leftover pasta sauce on gnocchi

The four rules behind it

  1. Cook once, serve twice. Every dinner deliberately produces tomorrow's lunch.
  2. Iron daily: egg, lentils, fish, meat or fortified oats appear every single day.
  3. Allergens on rotation: egg, fish, dairy, wheat and peanut each show up at least twice a week to maintain tolerance.
  4. One new food per day, max. Variety builds fast without overwhelming anyone.

Batch-cook Sunday (45 minutes)

One tray of sweet potato wedges, one batch of egg muffins, one pot of hidden-veg sauce frozen in cubes, one bag of porridge fingers. That's breakfast and half the week's dinners solved.
